We had a very poor experience at the conchiglie. The studio was basically a “basso”, with a tiny bathroom down a few more steps that was under 180 cm high, so my husband couldn’t shower standing up. The bed was queen-size, and the kitchen had very old gas cylinder equipment, though I’m unsure whether it was legal. We paid 260€ for two nights, which the place wasn’t worth. Before our visit, we were asked to cancel the Booking.com reservation in exchange for a 30€ discount. After a sleepless night, with people upstairs moving furniture at 6:00 am, we left and found somewhere else. Then we were asked for 160€, including an absurd 50€ cleaning fee. A good host would have understood, apologized and tried to fix the situation. Instead, we were asked to pay an unreasonable amount. Cleaning a 30-square-meter studio takes less than an hour. Even an expensive cleaner costs 15€ an hour, plus 5€ to wash the towels. We refused the 50€ fee and eventually paid 140€, including a still absurd 30€ for cleaning.

Maria met us at the port and, along with her father Mario Torrente, welcomed us into their apartment, where everything smells of the sea. This family is extraordinarily kind. I’ve rarely met people who make you feel like part of the family when you rent their home. From the terrace, you can listen to the sea and look up at the stars. The property is cared for down to the tiniest detail by someone with rare elegance. Thanks for such a lovely stay.

The place is so beautiful it’s hard to know where to start. Mario and his wife were lovely, and Maria, with her fresh, sporty energy, also arranges events on the island. Bye for now, everyone. See you soon, and happy Easter!

Marettimo is a fantastic island, and Le Conchiglie is a great place to stay there. The apartment has a lovely sea view and sits opposite the old landing stage in a very quiet spot. The owners made us feel so welcome and were exceptionally kind. Thanks, Mario, it was a pleasure to meet you.
