Le Rocche Valnerina Residence

Paolo was very friendly. He met us in the village square and led us up to the apartment, which sits near the top of the village, just below the castle ruins. The place was clean and comfortable, with a dishwasher and air conditioning. All the services are metered.

This authentic place, renovated from a house dating back to the 12th century, still has original stone walls 1m70 thick. It’s a great escape from city life, with a private terrace overlooking the valley, a large shared outdoor area, a barbecue, a swimming pool, and an infrared sauna. The views are fantastic, and the setting is quiet and sunny. The friendly Italian host built and now runs the place with his wife; they’re lovely people. It’s not too far from Rome, either. Nearby, you can visit one of Italy’s most beautiful waterfalls, eat at local restaurants, and pick up local olive oil.

The view was magical and the stay wonderfully tranquil, though far too short. Our host greeted us with a bottle of local wine and even called ahead to reserve a table at a restaurant. He made us feel like rock stars. The accommodation was very pleasant, with several verandas, a sauna, and a swimming pool. Le Rocche has it all.

If you forget something here, it’s lost. The owner isn’t open to discussing it. P.S. In the photos the pool looks like a pool, but in reality it’s a small plastic bath.
