I booked today, and at check-in nobody greeted me. The staff barely spoke English and asked to hold my government ID for ten minutes. I refused to leave it with him, but he ignored me, and I had to ask three times for it back. Later the staff ignored me too. Very unprofessional. You don’t know what they might do with your ID during those ten minutes, so stay away. If staff refuse to return my ID next time, I’ll call the police. If the hotel says this is a mistaken review, I can provide my booking details.

The location is great, right across from the city centre and castle, and I’d certainly stay again if I’m in the area. My solo room was spacious, though the bathroom was tiny. Breakfast was lovely, with nice treats from the Europa bakery/cafe. Some things, like the keys and utilities, felt a little old-fashioned, but everything worked fine.

The updated room was excellent, and the place is beautiful. Staff are very friendly and speak English. There’s free parking on site. Park, then head out for a walk.

The furniture in the room was nice, but the room itself was very small and had no window facing outside. Breakfast and service were very good. I objected to Hotel Europe charging 10 euros for my dog while offering nothing for him. I’ve worked in hotels for ten years and never once had a problem with dogs, though we had many with people from specific countries. I’m tired of the story that every dog ruins a room or sleeps in a bed and needs two hours of extra cleaning. With stone floors and no explanation of any special cleaning, I refused to pay.
