The bunk beds were a hit, and it was great that all four of us fit in one room. Our beds were comfortable, and the room felt bright, fresh, and recently updated, as well as really clean. Fabrizio was warm and helpful. The place sits at the edge of the little town, close to forest trails and just down the road from the restaurant with the same name.

The room itself was okay, but the house was being renovated and didn't meet standards. We got no welcome and there was neither a check-in nor a check-out. Vincenzo was usually busy elsewhere, and when we did see him, he tried to push us to eat at his pizzeria. We waited ages to check out and eventually left because we couldn't wait any longer. The pizzeria wouldn't take our payment either. We assume he was angry, but he also dishonestly charged extra to our credit card for the night.

The room was dirty and wasn't cleaned while we were there, and it was so small and cramped. The toilet seat was broken, trash was scattered around the grounds, and the room doors didn't lock. The front door was left unlocked with the key in it.

I felt at home here, only in a much more special setting. Al Bosco Ficuzza is surrounded by greenery, a few steps from the castle, and wonderfully peaceful. The room was spotless, cozy, and carefully looked after, and you can see how much care goes into the place. Everyone was kind, helpful, and ready with a smile. I'd happily recommend it for a few quiet days in Ficuzza, and I'll definitely return.
