This was my favourite camping experience, hands down. The staff were lovely and helpful, and gave me great assistance and suggestions. Everything is beautifully maintained, with real attention to detail. It’s not cheap, but the value is excellent.

Camping Seiser Alm is in a league of its own. The views of the Seiser Alm are breathtaking, and every pitch has water and electricity. The toilets and showers feel like 5-star hotel facilities, and everyone can use the dishwashers. Staff are polite, knowledgeable and always willing to help. It costs more, absolutely, but it’s worth every cent.

The free bus pass that comes with your stay makes it easy to visit nearby villages and hiking trails without moving your vehicle. The stop is conveniently up at the top of the hill. Just be aware that this campsite spreads over a hillside, so depending on your pitch, the toilets, showers or shop can be a bit of a walk. The scenery on the way makes up for it. There are more than 180 pitches, all spacious, well cared for and fitted with electric hook-up, so it’s easy to settle in for a longer visit. Some have their own little balconies, though every pitch has a great backdrop. The mountain peaks look incredible in the morning and at sunset. Toilets, showers and washing-up areas are exceptionally clean and modern, with a lot of care put into them. If you’re hiking, sightseeing or just taking in the alpine air, this place brings together comfort, convenience and remarkable scenery.

We stayed five nights in mid-September and really enjoyed it. The views are amazing, and the swimming pool is great, with quite warm water. The showers and other facilities are lovely and very clean. I also liked the lounge music throughout, which gives the place a thermal-bath or sauna feel. Other campsites could learn from that, especially ones that leave radio music on at night. With a tent, if you’re staying more than a night or two, it’s worth arriving before 11 or 12 to get a better spot. Since the field is on a hill, everyone looks for a flat pitch near the electricity, so you may end up quite close to other campers. If your cable isn’t long enough, they can provide one.

I thought this was wildly overpriced, over 65 euros a night for a basic campsite where I parked my van without electricity, far from the only bathroom. This is the only campsite I’ve used that charges for a two-year-old. The receptionist was quite rude when we checked in. The facilities and views are nice, but in my opinion they don’t make it worth the price.
