Camping Village Panoramico Fiesole

The cabin was new, stylish, and comfortable, with quality furniture and modern appliances. We also appreciated the pool and all the room to walk our dog. Staff were incredibly friendly, and the whole place felt warm and welcoming. We’d booked just one night and had expected little, especially after seeing the low Google Maps rating, but the camping site exceeded every expectation. The view over Florence is breathtaking. I’m truly impressed and can recommend it wholeheartedly. We’ll definitely come back.

I gave it three stars. After a long day cycling, you’re pretty much stuck here because of the steep hills around the site. My small tent spot wasn’t comfortable, and knowing Fiesole had left me with high expectations. The pitches are packed close together, so there was neighboring snoring and other noise. I’ll spare you the rest of the details, but the sanitary facilities might need cleaning more than once a day. One bright spot was the onsite restaurant, where the service was wonderful and cheerful.

The standout positives were the shuttle to central Fiesole, where you can catch the regular bus to Firenze, and the stunning city views. The pool is nice, though you have to wear a swim cap, and the restaurant tables are right beside it. Some familiar issues: the Wi-Fi is bad, and the washrooms are old, often broken, and dirty. One washroom has been renovated, so with the right pitch you could end up with a five minute walk to anything involving water. One thing other reviews leave out is the restaurant shop. It’s no supermarket: a small Beck's bottle costs 5€ and a litre of milk is 3€. We put up with that the first evening, but not again. The breakfast bakery selection is limited and expensive too.

The reception staff were helpful and spoke perfect English, and the pool has a view of Florence. Beyond that, I expected more for 64 euros a night. Getting here with a camper was difficult, and the pitches were unattractive, hard gravel, all lined up, with no shade at all. We were above the toilet block and kept getting hit by the smell of urine. Prices were way too high: I paid 26 euros for a bottle of wine in the shop, not at a meal, when it costs 6 quid in Lidle. You have to wear a cap in the pool, where there were only about four people.
