Hotel Villa Dei Bosconi

A lovely spot in Tuscany, about a 25-minute drive from downtown Florence. Our clean room looked out over the pool area. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff spoke English.

The hotel itself is nice and picturesquely situated, but the service, staff, and room condition made for an awful night. The shower was falling apart, and there was no soundproofing. We paid 180€ for a night in a three-star hotel and found the experience completely unacceptable. At 00:30, new guests arrived and talked loudly with the night concierge as they went to their rooms. Once they quieted down, the concierge began washing dishes and glasses in the kitchen right behind our room. It sounded as if he was doing it outside our door. I politely asked him to keep the noise down because it was already 01:00, but he didn't understand English at first, looked annoyed, then said in Italian there was no other way and carried on. At 01:30, two more guests arrived and noisily moved into the room next to ours. Half an hour later, someone knocked on our terrace window and then several times on the door, close to 02:00. When I went to reception to ask for another room, the new guest and concierge were standing there talking and laughing loudly. My complaint got more annoyed looks and an "ok, sorry." It still wasn't quiet, so I asked again and we were finally able to switch rooms. I complained again the next morning, but nobody seemed to take responsibility. This is the kind of thing I'd expect at a hostel, not here.

I came with my parents and we found the rooms great and the location amazing. Giuseppe at the front desk was especially polite and helpful, though really the whole staff was nice. Bus service to the main city is infrequent, so plan around that. I'd come back.

They sold us a three-bed room with an extra bed as if it were a four-bed room. The room was a disaster, seemingly converted from a garage, with a bad smell and barely any space to move. The hotel was generally rather ugly, and breakfast was poor.
