The food was a highlight, especially the homemade bread and crostata at breakfast. You can really see the care that goes into the ingredients and how the grains are processed. Manuel and Signora Rita made us feel at home, and the dogs were sweet and playful too. We loved how peaceful the place felt, with its fresh, breezy air. Tropea and the nearby beaches are about a 20-minute drive away. I was a little concerned about the road at first, but it turned out to be an easy drive on well-maintained provincial roads. The room had classic antique furniture, a new bathroom, and was very comfortable and clean. We didn't need the air conditioning. I'm so glad we chose this charming place instead of a beach hotel. It's a lovely base for a quiet stay among nature, with a visit to busy Tropea. We left with beautiful memories.

The property looks especially lovely early in the morning and just before sunset. Rita and Manuel were kind and helpful, and the €40-per-person degustazzione dinner was well worth it. The food was amazing. Breakfast, though, felt a bit lacking compared with places I've stayed in Sicily, Rome, and farther north in Italy. We were there for six nights, and our room was never cleaned or had its bin emptied. We had a 15-month-old who went through a lot of dirty nappies, and we had to ask for fresh towels. Edit: The owner replied 11 months later with the same know-it-all attitude. I feel I should mention that during our stay he asked me to leave a 5-star review. 🤣🤣🤣

We came for four days and enjoyed how calm and quiet it was, far from the noise and crowds of summer tourism. Mrs Rita put a skilful touch on the breakfast made with local products, and Mr Manuel shared the secrets behind typical rural Calabrian foods. We'd happily return!

The place and the hospitality earned four stars from me, but I agree with his comments about the room. We were there for nearly a week and it was never cleaned. There wasn't any misunderstanding, as you said. Nobody asked us whether we wanted the room cleaned. For the price, I'd at least expected fresh towels and a clean room each day, or the bins to be emptied.

Manuel and his family made this stay near Tropea special. They went well beyond what you'd normally expect, arranging restaurant bookings and beach parking, and even inviting us to eat with them. A lovely place, and one I can recommend.
