We were cold for two days and couldn't wash because the hot water stopped and the heating didn't get warmer when the weather turned colder. The room was also humid, dim, full of mosquitoes, and below the standard we had paid for. To start with, no one sent check-in instructions and the hotel phone went unanswered, so we waited outside for about half an hour, leaving messages. We finally tried WhatsApp, and the manager said he didn't have the phone with him, even though it was listed as the only contact method. There wasn't even an apology. This was our worst stay in 20 years.

The owner made us feel appreciated, from the key and letter left for us on day one to the bottled water given to us before we left. The room was spacious and clean, and after our tiring walks around Florence we'd come back to find everything tidied and the sheets folded neatly. The location worked well for both the train station and the city.

We enjoyed our stay and could walk everywhere from this clean, nicely located room in the heart of the city, close to the main train station. The host communicated often and clearly, which made check-in easy. There's a kitchen, though breakfast wasn't included. Our room had a big window instead of a balcony. The shower was small, just enough for one person, but that was a minor thing. Ciao!

We arrived to find a woman downstairs asking for my booking details. She just shook her head and said she didn't know, then called the owner, who told me our reservation had been cancelled. There had been no warning or cancellation email, and I had received a Google confirmation only 12 hours before we got there. They did nothing to help us find somewhere to stay. When I emailed about it, they replied, “we have no fault.” The management was awful, and this was the worst experience we've had while traveling. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Florence has plenty of better places, so don't waste your time.
