B&B L’ Isola Fiumicino

For my one-night stop near the airport, this B&B worked perfectly. Piero picked me up at the airport, and I found the room comfortable and simple, with everything I needed. I especially appreciated the large bath sheet and the location near the ocean. I'd stay here again.

We booked a shuttle to and from the airport when we made the reservation, but Piero charged us twice the amount we'd agreed on by email. He was driving another guest at the same time, and we seemed to be the only travelers asked to pay. He also wouldn't let us have breakfast a little earlier. It was only espresso and croissants or cereal, but missing the earlier meal meant we boarded last. We spent just one night at this pension. The room was tiny and basic, though clean and neat. Piero's treatment of us was disappointing. There must be better hotels with owners who are more understanding and less greedy.

This is a good fit for an active Rome trip: you can spend the day in the city, relax at the beach, then come back to a clean bed and a room with a toilet, shower, and TV. The sea is 150 m away, there are plenty of restaurants, and the airport is nearby. Getting to central Rome by public transit takes 1 h 20 minutes. The owner is genuinely kind and helpful. It's not a hotel, so don't expect a pool or sauna.

We booked at the last minute because I had no other choice for one night with my family. It was a horrible stay. The owner was one of the rudest people I've ever met; this pathetic little man yelled at us and treated us with so much suspicion. We were ready to leave, but it was already late and we had nowhere else to go. I don't know how someone like that can be in the hospitality business.
