We were welcomed with something sweet, and the setting was so peaceful, with no noise at all. The house brought back the flavors and feeling of my grandparents’ home. It’s also ideally placed for reaching the beaches.

Fluminimaggiore is a charming town, with caves and a temple among the nearby places to visit. There are at least three supermarkets, a dairy, several bars, and I think some restaurants too, though I didn’t look into them since I had a kitchen. The apartment has pots and pans, dishes, a coffee maker, and a microwave, and everything was spotless. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and practical, with plenty of outlets in handy spots. Breakfast isn’t officially included, but Alma, the very kind host, left mineral water, jams, biscuits, coffee pods, and some lovely welcome treats. I could park my bike in the private courtyard as a cycle tourist, though I’m not sure if cars can park there. Grandma’s house is a real gem!

The beautiful Portixeddu beach is only a 10-minute walk away, and the house would work well for families or a longer stay, even though my husband and I were there for just one night. It’s recently renovated but still has the feel of a Sardinian grandmother’s home. Everything was spotless and equipped with every comfort, and Ilaria was very kind. We’d be happy to come back.

The owners were so welcoming and kind, and the apartment really did feel like grandma’s house. It was a lovely place to stay, like being at home, and just right for wrapping up our leg of the Camino de Santa Barbara.
