We saw two cockroaches in our room, which was a huge disappointment, especially after paying extra for a higher standard. This was the worst place we stayed during our two-week trip around Puglia. Nowhere did it say check-in was self-service, and we only found out after submitting our information. An employee said he was working at another hotel and couldn't give us the keys, so his friend left them inside. Entering a closed hotel that way made us feel like burglars. I strongly advise against booking this hotel.

The spa is only available at certain times, and the listing mentions an extra charge for massage but not for the spa. The worst part was being asked to send passport information over WhatsApp, which I don't think is acceptable in general. I also had trouble communicating with them. They said they'd lost the key and that it was no problem, but it turned out to be a misunderstanding in English. Maybe things would have been different if I spoke Italian, but I still don't think it was okay. The hotel guy asked me to delete my earlier one-star review about these issues and update it, so these are my updated comments. I hope they take care of the reviews below five stars, reply, and make things better. Thanks.

Pay special attention when showering, as there's no safety rail or handhold and the floor is slippery. Under the sofa bed, the cleaning left a lot to be desired. Our double bed was on a mezzanine, while the single bed was a sofa bed downstairs, so anyone with mobility problems would be better off using the sofa bed. Breakfast is served at a partner location outside Residenze Romano. Read the rules carefully too: check-in is at 17h:00. An employee is there from 09h:00 until noon and comes back around 17h:00. When they're away, you enter the accommodation with a numeric code.
