We only spent one night here, but this was probably our best night on a trip that also took us through the Tuscan countryside, Florence, Rome, and Sorrento. The B&B was our nicest stay in Italy by far, with clean, updated furnishings, comfortable beds, and a traditional Italian feel. It’s in a quiet, safe area, just a few minutes’ walk from good restaurants and shops. Fondi itself feels like a lovely hidden secret, with a lively town square in the hills of Latina. Not many people in town speak English, and that was okay. It’s outside the big cities, with a regional train stop about halfway between Naples and Rome, and we enjoyed the cobbled streets, food, drinks, and Italian hospitality. Our innkeeper went out of his way for us. He invited us to his fantastic restaurant in the shadow of the Fondi castle, where we had the best meal of our trip, which is saying a lot. It cost about half what a similar meal would have in Florence. We had a bottle of local merlot, two handmade after-dinner drinks, two amazing pasta dishes, and two large bacon-wrapped filets with roasted potatoes. When we couldn’t get a taxi back to the train station, he also gave us a ride for free. The accommodations, food, and one-of-a-kind hospitality made for an unforgettable night.

Really good place.

Everything was just right. The apartment is beautiful and fully equipped, with towels changed and cleaning done daily. Breakfast had a great selection of sweet and savory options. It’s in a strategic spot in the historic center, and Fondi’s seaside is only a 12-minute drive away. Albano, the owner, is a wonderful and capable person.
