We chose Hotel al Sole again for the New Year celebrations after staying there last year, and had another lovely three days. It’s peaceful and carefully looked after, with a real sense of mountain traditions. Our king-size room was clean, breakfast had plenty to choose from, and the food was delicious, especially the excellent meat. From Forni Avoltri, it’s easy to reach Sappada’s ski slopes, and walking trails start nearby. The hotel is run with a lot of care and dedication. Highly recommend it! Raymond & Valentina

It’s been a long time since my stay in 2003, but I still remember how good it was. The food was out of this world, and everyone made me feel welcome. If you ever go back in time to stay there, definitely don’t ask Mama Lia for hot sauce!

The lady who served us was such a delight, and we loved the food. There were great traditional local choices, from the antipasti to the mains and desserts. Excellent service too. We came with friends and had a wonderful time. Highly recommend it. 😋

The rain pattering on the canopy was lovely while we ate outside. The deer was great, and the cjarsons were amazing. We also had excellent white Friuli and then tiramisu from Tolmezzo.

It’s a peaceful little place, and if you’re driving through, stop here. This is a real Italian village, not Disneyland. There’s a wine shop with a big selection and really good wine. Don’t just drive through your life.
