Hermitage Hotel & Resort Forte dei Marmi – Starhotels Collezione

The room had a persistent bad smell from the toilet, Room 109. We complained several times, but nothing was done. Housekeeping was disappointing too. My arranged shoes were picked up from the floor and put randomly in my luggage, my little girl’s wet clothes were covered with the robe, and the space under the bed wasn’t clean. Breakfast was limited to two kinds of eggs, and any other preparation, like an omelette or sunny side up, cost extra. That felt unusual for a hotel breakfast. The shuttle was out of service several times and caused inconvenience. There were good points as well. The reception team were kind and helpful, especially Jozefina, who made us feel welcome and handled issues professionally. Bellmen Sebastian, Jovane, and Christiane were warm and helped with our luggage, and the breakfast waiters were attentive. Checkout went smoothly. There were several charges we hadn’t ordered, but the receptionist apologized and removed them right away. I was told management would change from Augustus to star-hotel group. I hope that has a positive impact. Jozefina and the bellmen made a great impression, but the housekeeping, limited breakfast, shuttle problems, and unresolved room issue made the stay less enjoyable than expected.

A magnificent hotel in a beautiful setting, a little outside the center of Forti but not far away. The rooms are spacious and quiet, and breakfast is very good, with the option to eat outside. The grounds are wonderful and the hotel is superbly run. Sonia and her deputy are professional in how they look and act, and Sonia and her impeccably professional staff always put guests’ wellbeing first. She shows how you can be both assertive and empathetic, with the best results for guests and the hotel. Staff are attentive and keep guests’ interests as their top priority.

At this price, this may be the worst hotel in all of Forte dei Marmi. We felt foreigners were treated unfairly, almost as if it were a scam, and that Italians were given help ahead of us.

We were given two rooms but only one bathroom to share, even though we had booked two with bathrooms. The food at breakfast looked as if it had been sitting out for days, and dinner on the terrace felt bleak. You can hear the neighboring room's door close, so there's no privacy. The place also feels old and dusty from the lobby onward, and the receptionist speaks to people in such a condescending, snobbish way that you'd want to turn around and leave. It seemed clear to us that foreigners were treated as less welcome than Italians. This was probably the worst hotel we've ever stayed in. We could list more, but just don't go.
