The bread and breadsticks were the best part of my meal. The rest was a frustrating experience on a short drive toward Poffabro, where this seemed to be one of the only places to eat. The restaurant was tidy and looked nice, though a little cold; that wasn’t the main problem. The potato rösti appetizer was burnt. After our plates were cleared, we waited 40 minutes for the pasta. We alerted the waitress, and she brought it out quickly, but my tagliatelle with mushrooms was watery, as if it had been rushed. I couldn’t eat it and asked for it to be taken back. It wasn’t replaced, and the waitress didn’t seem to care about my request. We were still charged the full bill, and I’d hoped someone might at least ask why I’d left the food. I’ve read other reviews since and half expect a sneer in response. After feeling sneered at over the service, that would be the last thing I need. I can’t recommend the place to anyone heading this way, though mobile internet is unreliable around here.

The pork cheeks and rib-eye were delicious, and we enjoyed dessert too. The potatoes were a little too sweet. With a small cheese platter, coffee, wine, and bottled water, our meal came to €51.40. It’s a family-run restaurant, and the women serving us were genuinely kind and good at making recommendations. They often have live music on weekends, and we’ll definitely return.

We’ll be back. The service was quick even with the à la carte menu, and the atmosphere felt informal but nice. The cold cuts were sublime, the mushrooms and polenta excellent, and the first courses fantastic. Dessert was good, though not outstanding. On a Monday the choice was limited, which was understandable.

It’s a very simple restaurant, but the food is delicious and original, with local ingredients alongside plenty of excellent seafood. Prices are very reasonable.
