La Casa del Melograno

It was so quiet and lovely to be away from the crowds, and the views are among the best. Umberto was a great host and arranged whatever we needed, including scooters, dinners and food delivery. Breakfast was great, with homemade jams and lemon cake, and when we asked for more, there was no problem. We’d highly recommend this place.

Umberto and his B&B are magical. My best friend and I loved staying there, and the views are incredible. The croissants, lemon cake and cappuccinos were fantastic. You can take the bus to Amalfi or other cities. We walked down, but didn’t walk back up. The Fiord is also a breathtaking walk away. We’ll definitely come back for the peace and quiet away from the crowds. Ciao and Grazie Mille Umberto 😊❤️

The quiet, away from everything, was probably the best part of our stay at La Casa Del Melograno in Furore. We liked the place, and Umberto was an interesting host who tried hard to help. He gave us restaurant and tour contacts, helped arrange parking in Amalfi and helped us get a boat to Capri. Just be aware that there are lots of stairs. There’s an elevator, but guests are encouraged to use the stairs even with suitcases, which is a good workout but won’t suit everyone. Breakfast was pleasant, but cappuccino, cake and croissants weren’t enough for us. During our five days, we were offered one Sfogliatella. We got the impression we had to finish it all or it wouldn’t be offered again unless we asked. Bring insect repellent. We had a problem with insects, and my spouse was bitten all over by a spider while sleeping. There were ants and millipedes everywhere. Maybe it was just our room, but the in-room refrigerator was unplugged and the AC/Heating unit was off. I understand saving electricity matters, but if these are in the room, they should be available without having to ask. We didn’t ask, and just wore more clothes. For laundry, I’d use a laundry facility. The owner offered washing service, but our clothes came back soapy and smelled as though they’d missed a rinse. We only found out on our last day, so there wasn’t time to complain. You’ll also need cash or another way to pay, as the B&B didn’t take credit cards. After I posted a very similar review on another site, the manager replied: “This customer is rude, he got everything he asked for, like double breakfast, free laundry, tea at all hours, and his little son peed on the floor in the room, but after all this he even complains, I ask you to delete this comment - La Casa Del Melograno” We never asked for double breakfast. We paid 35 euro for the dirty laundry, partly in cash and partly by bank transfer because credit cards weren’t accepted. Tea at all hours? He must have me mixed up with someone else. Our son never peed on the room floor. He’s a liar. The review was fair and based on what happened, and Umberto had the audacity to lie about our visit. I don’t disparage the place and wish him well, but arguing with past guests does him no good. I hope he treats it as constructive criticism and works on the service instead of fighting with people.

The place itself was lovely and peaceful, with clean rooms and a pretty balcony view. But the host made us feel unwelcome from the start. We were treated like children, and the whole week at La Casa Del Melograno felt tense, like we had to watch every move. Breakfast was just one croissant and coffee. We didn't feel comfortable asking for extra pillows, leaving the AC on for more than five minutes, or even having coffee in our room, just a few feet from the breakfast balcony. We wanted to leave as soon as we arrived. It's also more isolated than we expected, and there's a steep staircase to tackle. The views and quiet were nice, but we wouldn't come back.
