San Giacomo Relais

A friendly place to relax, and I recommend it for a rest. The service was very helpful, the room was cleaned daily, and the food was tasty, though the menu was a bit small. It's quiet and away from the center. Getting up to the hotel is a little difficult, but the view from the window was beautiful.

Getting around without a rental car honestly isn't easy. There's a convenient bus to Amalfi, but it takes 40 minutes and is almost always late, so connections to other towns are usually missed. Our trips to Ravello took well over two hours each way, with lots of waiting at Amalfi bus station. The bus only runs hourly and until about 8pm, so dinner in other towns means paying for a €90-150 taxi. We did that on two nights from Positano. The hotel itself is beautiful, set into the cliffside vineyard Marisa Cuomo. Our room had a nice sea view, the pool was a welcome relief, and Umberto was kind and helpful with our questions. Breakfast was delicious, with different homemade cakes in rotation. As someone else mentioned, DO NOT try the stairs down. We did it twice to catch a bus to Positano after the Amalfi bus didn't show. Each time took 50 minutes, and we were exhausted and sweating through our clothes before even reaching the bus at Fiordo de Furore. Getting to the fjord is very difficult too.

The villa sits high in the mountains in Furore, and getting there isn't easy. Still, the terrace views are second to none, and Umberto and Enza were incredibly friendly and took care of whatever we needed. Our room was spotless, the air conditioner kept us cool in the extreme heat, and all the food is made to order. There's even a pizza oven on site for freshly made-to-order pizza. My wife and I stayed here for the first leg of our Amalfi trip. The villa is tiny and quiet. One thing to know is that very few taxis come out this far into the mountains, and they're expensive. We paid 80 euros to go down to Amalfi and 100 euros to get back, for a trip of only around 6 miles. There's just one road in and out, so traffic can be bumper to bumper depending on the time. Even with those costs and Furore's steep staircases, I still recommend San Giacomo Relais.

We stayed at the B&B at the end of April and loved the place. The room was great, with a sea view, and the stay was clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful. The one drawback was that the route to the Inn was closed at the time, so we had to use the outside steps.
