The room was beautiful and the scenery lovely, but the service was terrible. We were supposed to reach the castle around 3pm, then our car was broken into and a window was smashed. We spent practically the whole day going to police stations to try to file a report, and arrived around 8.40pm. The receptionist was rude and pushy. She kept saying she'd tried to call us all day, but we hadn't received a call, and there was no email either. We were busy dealing with the car. It was pouring rain, so I asked if there was somewhere covered to park because the window was shattered. She didn't seem to care and kept trying to sell us breakfast and dinner. She also said I was crazy to think anything would be open at 8.45pm, because everything in Italy closes. I'd already been in Italy for a week and had eaten at plenty of restaurants at that hour. We ended up having dinner there, which was awful: four tiny bowls of pasta with no meat. Luckily, we found a bar five minutes away and bought a bunch of food because we were still hungry. There is a takeaway place, so don't take the receptionist's word for it. The castle itself is occupied by the owner, so guests aren't allowed inside. I couldn't reply before, so I'm editing this here. Dear whoever, You weren't there, so how do you know what your staff was like? I know what she said, and my whole family heard it too. I'm not disillusioned. I don't need to justify myself; I simply wrote about my experience. You can take it as constructive criticism or as an offence, that's up to you. But you can't defend what happened if you weren't there.

We stayed in the Cavalcata apartment, which was spacious and really comfortable. The staff were friendly and very professional, going out of their way to make our stay special. The cellar tour and wine tasting are well worth doing, and their “Matilde” red wine was a standout. Our daughter had a great time exploring the maze. The restaurant is in one of the old buildings surrounding the castle, and was a lovely addition. The seasonal local dishes really celebrate the area's flavors. The castle itself is a gem, beautifully maintained and full of history and charm. I can't wait to come back for truffle hunting with the dogs and a summer afternoon by the outdoor pool. Highly recommended!

We’ve stayed in quite a few castle hotels over the years, since it's something we like to do when traveling through western Europe. CdG is certainly among the best. The food is stellar, and the setting is beautiful. What makes it stand out is that this isn't just a castle, but a whole property with its own medieval village and a hedge maze.

The room was spacious, clean, and had a unique feel. The castle is beautiful, with breathtaking views, and the hospitality from the local staff, Irene and Simona, was incredibly kind. They communicated well before our arrival, arranged a special opening of the local restaurant, 3 Orlogi, which was very good and took our dietary requests into account, and set up a truffle hunting experience followed by a wonderful wine tasting. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

Castello Di Gabiano Italy, in the Piedmont region, is a great place to experience history up close. If you love historical shows like Game of Thrones, The Medicis, or Reign, or just want to get off the couch and see something real, this is the place. The castle has stood proudly on a mountain since around the year 1000, and its old world charm is everywhere. There are restored buildings with rustic but lovely apartments and suites, a manicured labyrinth garden, private pool and grounds, ivy over ancient brick walls, and picturesque views across vineyards and gentle valleys. The staff are gracious, friendly, and accommodating. Gabiano makes delicious wines, including reds, whites, flavorful blends, and a delicious prosecco. The extensive wine menu has something for every palate, so a tasting is worth doing. Part of the grounds were being renovated during our stay. We were told the facility would soon add a second pool and spa amenities, including massage and other luxury services, for a more relaxing retreat. Knights in shining armor and beautiful maidens alike will enjoy the enchanting old world of Castello Di Gabiano in the Piedmont region.
