B&B La Gaetana

This felt more like staying in an apartment than a hotel. The rooms are all inside one apartment, and you only get access to the room type you booked. You’re supposed to have access to the roof terrace, which is amazing. The staff member who greeted us tried to charge €30 for using the kitchen, which seemed silly. The style is modern and it’s clean overall, but the beds are really hard and uncomfortable. Breakfast is included at a nearby local restaurant, and it was horrible. I’m not sure I’d recommend the place.

Lovely house, beautiful view, great spot in Gaeta’s medieval area. But the service was zero. If you have bad knees, expect three or more flights of stairs to get to the lower trattoria if you want to eat. My mother and I booked three days at this B&B for April 2022. I got a key and two business cards with a café name for breakfast, but no address or phone number. We had no idea where it was and were left to figure it out ourselves. There was no Wi-Fi information. We tried texting the owner for details and got silence. We were the only guests in the whole house, even though my travel agent had been told our room was the only one available. The kitchen area had two bags of dirty sheets and towels against the wall. The dishwasher was full of dishes that smelled as though they hadn’t been emptied for weeks. I couldn’t find a trash bin. The patio cushions weren’t set out, just piled in a hallway corner, and the television in the main living area didn’t work. I called my travel agent to get us out of there and sent photos of what I’d found, hoping for some kind of refund. I even watered the owner’s dying plants outside and washed some of the glassware from the dishwasher.

The people were so lovely, and the place was really nice. Thank you so much!

My €270 Booking.com reservation was cancelled just five days before the stay. They said plumbing problems meant they couldn't host me. That timing was already a huge inconvenience, but then, three hours later, the room showed up on Booking.com again for €687. What can I say? It feels like a real scam.
