Grand Hotel Il Ninfeo

A beautiful hotel, decorated very nicely, in a great spot by the beach. It’s quiet, the service was good, and the rooms were large and clean. Breakfast was good too, though there weren’t many items.

The kitchen serves tasty dinners, and for lunch you can grab a sandwich at the beach bar or take a short drive towards Gaeta for fresh mozzarella and snacks. The private beach is nice and clean, with fine sand that makes a good playground for children. The water is very shallow, which is especially handy with small kids. Staff were friendly and helpful, and plants shade most of the parking lot.

The sea is lovely and the sky is blue, so if that’s all that matters to you, you might not mind the rest. The hotel is right on the beach, just a few steps from the water, which is its best feature and perhaps the only reason to stay. Lunch and dinner are a total rip-off, a tourist trap if you don’t check first and plan carefully where to eat. I know the pandemic hit hospitality hard, so we didn’t really want to complain, but the food quality was poor: a millefoglie was almost spoiled. The portions were tiny too, with just 8 mezzi paccheri in the pasta serving, I counted them! I’d avoid all meal-inclusive options if you stay here, even breakfast, which is limited and certainly didn’t seem handmade or fresh. Otherwise, look elsewhere or eat out.

What made our 10 days especially great was the people and the service. The staff went out of their way to do very nice things for us. Tani, Toni, Luca, and Fabienne, you’re fantastic. Maria Luisa especially made our vacation fantastic. Thank you all so much, and see you soon. The location, beach, and food were all great too.
