We really enjoyed our stay in Gaggi. It’s a quiet small town, and the resort has a lovely garden, pool and spacious, tidy rooms. Our superior room was cleaned daily. The housekeepers didn’t speak English, but they were so kind and friendly. The pool area was especially relaxing, and the women working in the bar and kitchen were cheerful and gave us great service. Drinks and snacks were available from 13:00-19:00, and everything we tried was delicious. We also had lunch there a couple of times and loved tasting Sicilian food. The receptionist was helpful when our AC started leaking overnight, and it was fixed the morning after we reported it. We had plenty of parking, a supermarket called Conad nearby, and restaurants and takeaway options further along. The gate closes at 21:00, but guests get a key to let themselves in and out. The views around the resort are lovely, and we were greeted with a bottle of prosecco for our honeymoon. Thank you, we had a great time and would recommend it to friends. There were some things that made our stay harder. Noise carries between rooms, so we could hear people moving things around, and the housekeepers cleaning early in the morning. A playground behind the resort was noisy until 1 am on our first two nights. The receptionist called the police after we complained, but said there wasn’t anything he could do because the playground had municipal permission to be open from 19:00 to 24:00. Worth knowing when booking. Dinner after 19:00 would have been useful, since the resort is in a small town and eating onsite would save a trip out. Breakfast ran from 7:30 to 9:30, which felt too early to end, especially since most guests seemed to come between 8:30 and 9:30 and it got busy. Extending it to 10:30 would make sense, as the snack bar doesn’t open until 13:00. A couple of times, noise and the leaking AC left us too tired to get up for breakfast. The bar staff kindly gave us complimentary coffees on those two days. The Wi-Fi was very slow, so we had to use our own mobile data.

We had a terrace outside our ground-floor room, with a beautiful view of the pool. The lawn was freshly cut every day, and the maids cleaned the room and changed the towels daily. The resort and surrounding nature are lovely, and the pool looked clean and inviting. It was April and too cold for us to swim, though we could have used it if we wanted. A few practical things were lacking: the bed was short, there weren’t many power outlets, and the Wi-Fi connection was poor. Little ants also came into the room from the garden.

The garden, with its fragrant flowers and fruit trees, gives the resort a special atmosphere, and the place itself is peaceful and beautiful. Our room was clean and lovely, the bathroom was good, and we got fresh towels every day. We felt thoroughly looked after during our week in Sicily at Alcantara Resort. The staff were both professional and friendly, and Maria and Alessandro clearly love making guests feel welcome. The chef offers a small fresh menu each day with Sicilian food right there at the resort. We’d absolutely recommend eating onsite. The staff were also happy to help us plan sightseeing trips.

The people here are lovely, and everyone made us feel welcome. Pina speaks a few languages and really helped us settle in. Ylena was so helpful, served a very good breakfast, and shared ideas for places to visit nearby. The front desk staff were friendly too, and the manager, el capo :) , let me try some beautiful Sicilian wine. We even had lunch here a couple of times and got to taste Sicily. The staff will help with anything, so don’t hesitate to book. Lots of love from Wim and Joyce.
