Tucked into the hills above gaiole, it's quiet and secluded, just right for a family break. A lovely place to switch off and relax.

Our family of five loved how quiet it was, and the lack of Wi-Fi and sometimes weak signal didn't bother us. There's a ping-pong table, too. The house sits on a spacious property on a hill, with a huge pool and a fantastic view. Getting up the steep, unpaved drive was manageable in our VW Multivan, and there weren't any potholes. We'll definitely be back.

The owners were really friendly and checked in often, with useful tips. We had a very nice holiday in this lovely house in the Chianti region, with a great view over the vineyards. The rooms were clean and fine, though the mattresses could use replacing. The pool and sun loungers were great, but there are no parasols, and the lawn and garden could be better looked after. Getting there is the main challenge. The gravel road is narrow, with steep stretches where the tires often spin. The GPS coordinates are right, but a satnav takes you into the woods, so you'll need directions from the owners to find the proper access road. For groceries, there's a small Coop in the center of Gaiole in Chianti. The nearest larger supermarket is in Siena. We also had excellent food at Osteria Il Papavero in Barbischio, just a few minutes' walk from the accommodation.
