Corte Merlata Apartments

B&B was fine.

For our five nights, the small apartment was just right for two and had a lovely feel. The colorful lights, AC, and washer-dryer were great. The owners were welcoming and helpful. We found a Conad supermarket nearby, plus a grocery shop and a Chinese store with all kinds of things, and there are some very good restaurants around. Galatone is 15-20 minutes from both Gallipoli and Lecce. We parked in a nearby little square and, visiting in September, always managed to find a space.

The host was kind and helpful, the linens were clean, and the washer-dryer seemed new. Those were the bright spots. The studio felt suited to two people at most. The sofa bed was dirty, stained, and smelled bad; once opened, it left no room to reach the bathroom. The shower was broken and moldy. There was no car access or parking, and finding a space 250 meters away was a matter of luck. Neighbors were often out in the street checking on something, and the German Shepherd acted aggressively toward the children. The furniture was broken, there was no nightstand, and the closet was tiny. Perfume had clearly been sprayed to cover a stale, musty smell. I couldn't upload photos. I didn't check the mattresses, because I knew I wouldn't sleep if I did. It was mind-blowing.

We had a lovely stay, and the host was genuinely friendly. The property is comfortable and beautiful, right in central Galatone, just a few kilometers from Gallipoli and its splendid sea. See you soon.
