I spent several nights at Tenuta DonnAnna and was happier there than I expected. I’ve actually lived in Lecce and used to wonder why visitors to Puglia seemed so pleased. Then I got to experience it myself. On my first evening, a cooking class had just ended, and I arrived in time for the pasta they’d made, served with spring vegetables. It was a lovely welcome. This is very much a family place: Maddelena, Anna’s daughter, runs it, and the rest of the warm, kind family are around, for example at breakfast. Having lived in Italy for two years, I found them among the nicest people I’d met. My room was huge and comfortable, with a terrace where wonderful country air came in every night. It had everything I could want, including a sofa, a great bathroom and a phenomenal top-of-the-line memory foam mattress. Everything is done so well. I could happily have stayed for ages. I can’t wait to return and try one of the glamping tents, which looked just as perfect as the rooms. Tenuta DonnAnna is a special, peaceful and beautiful place in Salento, Puglia.

We stayed for a couple of nights, and even though there were other guests, we felt like family. The spacious, thoughtfully designed room had a large patio, and the place feels like a magical oasis of beauty and calm. Maddalena, gorgo, Giovani and the whole staff treated us to a beautiful dinner and delicious breakfasts each morning. Hope we’re lucky enough to return someday. Greetings, Marco!

The best part for us was dinner with the family. We stayed four nights, adding one more, and every night we went to bed full after wonderful food, freshly made for guests with real care and pride. Everyone eats and chats together, which makes for a nice social experience in my opinion. The rooms are very spacious and modern, with a nice rain shower and a small terrace each. The pool is huge and luxurious, and the grounds are beautifully manicured. The accommodation is also very well priced for what you get. We’ll definitely return with friends when we can.

After three nights, we really didn’t want to leave. We’d found an absolute gem: the property is gorgeous, and the rooms are pristine and spacious. We were welcomed straight into the family, and we’re still talking about the delicious dinners they served us. If you’re staying around Gallipoli, I can’t recommend Tenuta DonnAnna enough. We didn’t have time to take a cooking class with Anna, but we plan to come back and do one.

The garden makes you feel at home, even better, and the staff made us feel warmly welcome on a lovely September evening. Thanks to Maddalena, Marco and Giorgio. With the good food and the setting, it’s a perfect place to enjoy a fresh evening away from the crowded spots nearby.
