Zen Apartment

The owners were friendly, but that alone wasn’t enough. The photos and description don’t match the apartment’s actual condition. It’s spread across two levels joined by a rickety, noisy spiral staircase. Downstairs, the central bedroom has a double bed and no windows; two more bedrooms lead off it, with only small, high windows that let in very little light. None of the three ground-floor rooms has air conditioning, just ceiling fans that were completely inadequate in the nighttime heat. The bathroom and interior room doors don’t lock. Upstairs, which you can also enter from outside, there’s a kitchen and large living room with air conditioning and appliances in good condition, including a refrigerator, washing machine, and dishwasher. The sofa is ripped in several places and roughly covered with sheets. The best part is the small terrace off the kitchen/dining room, with a few steps down to a comfortable little garden and shower. But the umbrella shown in the photos, which would have made the garden more usable, wasn’t there. And the location right by the nightlife makes it hard to get a good night’s sleep.

The outdoor area was admittedly nice, but inside the photos didn’t reflect the accommodation at all. I doubt it ever looked like that. There was mold in many rooms, and the bathroom was especially uncomfortable. All three bedrooms are in a very dark basement, with a rickety spiral staircase leading upstairs. New problems kept coming: the washing machine broke during our week and wasn’t replaced until day four. The dishwasher failed on day two and flooded the kitchen, then on day three the power went out and the refrigerator broke too. We were traveling with a small child, so that was when we booked somewhere else and paid an additional 400 euros. Having to deal with something new every day ruined our whole vacation. The owner was nice, but the accommodation wasn’t worth the price. It’s also a party hotspot and usually noisy until morning. We normally choose places based on reviews, but this time we made an exception because we liked the pictures and wanted to stay in this area. If you want a school trip-level holiday in Rimini, this may suit you, but I’d strongly advise everyone else against it.
