Tobago Hotel

The breakfast was a real highlight. There was a big menu, everything we chose was excellent, and it was cooked fresh each morning based on our order from the day before. The restaurant was also very good. We had the seafood platter for two and were pleased with both the quality and the amount. We spent five nights as a couple at the end of April, and the whole stay felt five star. Staff across reception, the restaurant, kitchen, and housekeeping were attentive, kind, and helpful. Before we arrived, they also helped me with taxis, local vineyards, and restaurant suggestions. There was a good sized pool with jacuzzi jets, plus a hot tub that was just right on cooler afternoons. The only thing to bear in mind for anyone with limited mobility is the walk into town, about 15 minutes. I found it easy, and being a little away from the busy streets made the location feel just right.

The service was incredible and went beyond what we expected. We had an amazing time and would absolutely come back.

We spent five nights here in May and came away feeling rested and refreshed. Our balcony had a beautiful view, the bed was really comfortable, and the room and facilities were clean and well kept. Every staff member we met, from reception and housekeeping to the restaurant team, was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. We also booked two hours in the spa, which was wonderful as a private space to enjoy all the facilities. They had water, fresh juice, and fruit for us to snack on. We loved our stay at Tobago Hotel and would definitely stay again if we visited.

The pool and the staff are still the standouts. The team were incredibly attentive and friendly, and we could easily spend all day by the pool, with its whirlpool areas. There are plenty of loungers and no scramble to get one, though they are packed fairly close together. We got a surprise snack there each day, a lovely touch. Compared with our last visit, there seemed to be less pool service, and staff didn't check as often whether we wanted a drink or bring out complimentary olives. It may have been the busier season. The staff were working hard, and someone was around whenever we needed anything. The pool is beside a road and was quite loud at peak season. I think the waterfall used to run and help cover the noise, but this time it only came on for about 15 seconds when you pressed a button. The decking also looks worn and tired, and gets ridiculously hot in the sun. We first came in 2017 and were so impressed that I wanted to return as soon as possible. We stayed five nights last week. It was very good again, though it didn't have quite the same vibe, perhaps because it was peak season. On arrival we got welcome drinks and snacks, and rose petals had been put on the bed. Those little touches make you feel welcome. Dinner was nice, though heavily focused on seafood. Service, as ever, was excellent. Breakfast has a wide choice, but you have to pick from the large menu the day before, which can be annoying when you don't know what you'll fancy in the morning. The room was nice, and the bathroom had a lovely walk-in shower. Some holes in the shower head were blocked, so water sprayed in different directions. There's a window between the bathroom and bedroom, and we weren't keen on being able to see each other on the toilet. That could be awkward if you and your partner aren't close. The wooden floor looks dated and could do with refreshing. There were very few sockets, none by the bed. The minibar had just two bottles of water and was never refilled. There was a kettle and coffee, but no milk. No iron or ironing board was provided, and reception didn't offer one. The dressing gowns were so crisp they felt exfoliating. They had flip flops but no slippers, and the sizes didn't work for us or feel comfortable. There is a laundry service, but we prefer to use an iron and board as needed. This isn't an adults-only hotel. I had assumed it was, perhaps because I hadn't seen children last time, but there were several families with teenagers and a young child. I felt that took away from the atmosphere of a boutique relaxation hotel and spa. There's plenty of parking for private cars, and Garda is about a 15-minute walk down the road. The hotel offers cycles, but the main road was so busy we didn't want to risk riding there. I believe they also have a shuttle. I'd return only in the off season, and if it were adults-only.
