Garni Marika

As a backpacking tourist needing somewhere for two nights, I really recommend this hotel. It’s very reasonably priced and the value is unbeatable. My room was simple but clean and tidy, with a fantastic view over lake Garda and the city of Gargnano from the private balcony, especially lovely in the evening. The only thing I’d criticize is the thin walls. I could hear phone calls from other rooms in the evening, although the other guests were respectful. Even though I was the only guest who had booked breakfast on those days, the host laid out a table with plenty of fresh pastries and croissants, fresh juice, and as many coffee specialties as I wanted. I booked at very short notice and got a welcoming reply right away. The host greeted me in person, shared extensive local advice, and kindly upgraded me to a nicer room with a lake view at no extra charge.

The setting is superb, and the hotel was very clean and quiet. Breakfast was good and the staff were helpful. There’s free private parking in the yard. It’s more than a 1-star hotel as advertised. You’ll need a car because it’s up in the mountains. There’s a bus stop right in front, but I never saw a bus go by.

A quiet place away from town, with a very welcoming and friendly host. Parking on site is free, and breakfast was very nice. If you don’t want to drive for dinner, the restaurant across the street is excellent.

The hosts were very friendly and committed, and there are at least three restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are very clean, with simple furniture, but everything works well. Breakfast is decent, with no eggs or fruit, though the coffee selection is excellent. Great value for the money.
