Colle Cavalieri - Country House

A quiet farmhouse surrounded by nature, with lovely wood and stone rooms opening onto a terrace or patio. The pool and sauna are a nice extra. It's about 20 minutes from the sea at Castiglione and Follonica, and makes a good base for visiting nearby towns and quarries. The staff were extremely friendly, and the place was so peaceful.

We left as a group of seven without ever getting lunch. We'd asked Silvia if we could stay and eat, and she kindly said yes; we planned to make pizza in the beautiful wood-fired oven at Colle Cavalieri. Then, around 11:30, a rude, arrogant group arrived and barged into the kitchen, staring at us without saying a word or acknowledging us. They should bring some humility and kindness to Colle Cavalieri, where guests might want to come back. The day began in a beautiful place over the May 1st long weekend, and Silvia's sweetness and kindness really touched me. Many thanks to her for everything. As for the self-important people at Sunday lunch, no thanks.

The grounds are lovely and well cared for, and pets are welcome. The apartments are in a 19th-century farmhouse, furnished in Tuscan country style with terracotta ceilings and wooden beams. Our place was clean and comfortable, with a fully equipped kitchen and very clean rooms. The large pool was well maintained, and beside it there's a dining area with a kitchen, oven, grill, fridges, ice maker, and coffee maker. Guests can also use a small workshop for car, motorcycle, or bicycle repairs, as well as a massage room and sauna. It's easy to reach the coast and medieval villages from here. I look for a quiet break with relaxation, culture, and traditional local food, and this suited me perfectly.

Silvia looked after us so kindly and was always helpful. My family, our dog, and I had a wonderful stay and will definitely return. I was after a relaxing break away from the chaos, and this typical Tuscan farmhouse in the wild Maremma was just right. The seaside resorts are easy to reach, but for a quieter few hours there's a beautiful pool. There's also a shared outdoor kitchen with a lovely grill where you can eat by the pool.
