Albergo Boccadasse

I had meant to leave a positive review, but they haven't answered my Booking.com messages about medication I left in my room. They found more than 25 pills of a controlled substance there. I politely asked them to reply and mail the medication to my address, and offered to pay for the postage. It's a Schedule 1 drug, and I'll be reporting the theft to Italian police.

The staff treated us with great kindness, and breakfast was decent. I recommend the hotel for its prices and location, especially since beautiful Boccadasse beach is very close and the bus into the center of Genoa is just a two-minute walk away.

The room had a fridge, and the location is quite good, near Genova Sturla train station, with a nice beach nearby. Covered parking may be available if you're lucky. The advertised AC barely worked: you couldn't control it, and although the hotel staff said it was set to 22-24 degrees, it couldn't cool a 15-square-meter room. It stayed hot the whole time. Staff barely spoke English, especially in the evenings and at night. You have to slam the bathroom door hard to get it shut.

Parking depends on availability, and there are only spaces for up to 8 vehicles. We found one after midnight, about a five-minute walk away. The place is quite a drive from Genoa's old town. Rooms are alright, but the shower needs work: the walls are old and the paint is peeling. Breakfast was alright too. It was hard to communicate with the staff.
