The host was friendly, kind, quick to respond, and apologetic. The place matched the photos and had good equipment. But several things made our two-night stay during a heatwave really difficult. There was no air conditioning, as stated in the listing, but at €180 a night we expected a basic level of comfort. The building held onto the heat until it became unbearable, and air conditioning really is needed. Street noise made it impossible to leave the windows open, while with them shut the heat was stifling. The room was above the garbage bins, emptied at midnight. Sleep was nearly impossible. The bed seemed okay at first, but every time one person moved, the other was jolted awake. On top of the heat, my daughter woke up with about twenty mosquito bites, despite the mosquito net mentioned in the listing. We also found an insect in the bed, probably not the one that bit her, and more crawling on the floors and walls. The sofa was awkwardly designed and easy to bump into. There were practical problems too. The hot water was off when we arrived, so we had a cold shower the first day; it came back after the issue was fixed. The Wi-Fi didn't work at all. The host offered to look into it, but we were only there a short time and I didn't want to spend time on that. The host had reserved a parking space with their car, but traffic was heavy and we didn't feel our car would be safe there, so we paid for secure underground parking at €22/day. Check-in was only available at 3:00 PM. We gave the requested 30-minute notice, but Booking.com's schedule had us arriving 45 minutes early, so we had to wait in the blazing sun at 35°C. A key box for self check-in would make arrival more flexible.
