The booking portal eventually stepped in, but the manager’s attitude was very casual about the whole mix-up, saying these things can always happen when booking a property. A couple of days before my planned stay, I got a WhatsApp message saying maintenance meant my reservation wasn’t guaranteed and I’d have to cancel, although free cancellation was no longer available and I’d already paid. The manager quickly suggested a couple of alternatives at a similar price, but they were several kilometers away, despite being described as only a few hundred meters farther. Google Maps showed the distance.

The place was clean and the staff were friendly, but the service was poor and the breakfast was awful.
