The room was spacious, quiet, and clean, with a comfortable bed. I would have liked a second pillow. There’s no breakfast at the hotel, but plenty of nearby cafes make it easy to start the day. Staff were friendly and happy to answer questions. It’s well placed for the old city center, attractions, and the train station, with good airport connections. A few nearby streets looked a bit shady, so it’s better to approach via the main street, Via Balbi. There’s no elevator for the four floors. That wasn’t an issue for us, but it’s useful to know.

We stayed at Hotel Bologna on September 23, 2024. The hotel was very nice, but the nights outside were a problem. The window was covered and wouldn’t open, and there was a lot of shouting and commotion in the open courtyard below our room. The second night was louder and more frightening. I brought it up with Anna, but she brushed me off and didn’t acknowledge the concern. My husband is hard of hearing, yet even he woke when someone screamed in the middle of the night. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The staff pointed us to what turned out to be the BEST dinner spot in Genova. Their recommendations were great, and we had two wonderful meals at local Tratorias, eating e Nonna. Grazie Mille for such lovely days. The hotel was a great base for exploring beautiful Genova, with lovely, well-equipped rooms and secure parking in the centro storico. After navigating the narrow access road the hotel had explained, we reached a really good secured parking area. The preparation was excellent, and all the information in Booking was accurate. We also got one of the best welcomes ever.

I’m not sure why this family-run hotel has only two stars, maybe because it doesn’t serve breakfast or meals. That suited me fine, since I love an Italian breakfast and there are lots of cozy bars nearby. It’s right in the heart of Genova's historical centre, close to Piazza Principe and the main bus lines. The staff were super friendly, and the place was very clean and quiet.
