Hotel Colombo

There are bars and restaurants right outside, and the location is brilliant, set back from the busy street by Piazza de Ferrari. I thought it was good value and would definitely stay again. Staff were excellent, friendly, and welcoming. The woman at reception helpfully marked directions on a map for me. My room was basic but clean, with a nice feel, a hairdryer, and a large bed. It's a personalised-style hotel with lots of antique furniture. Breakfast came with great rooftop views, and the self-serve coffee and biscuits up there were a nice touch.

The location is the good part, right in the centre. The room was very dark and kind of dirty, and the bathroom wasn't appealing. Staff seemed unfriendly and incompetent, like they hated their jobs.

The location was great, with a wonderful restaurant just outside. The room was noisy at bedtime, and there was no air conditioning. The shower was very small, and the old furniture came with a bad smell.

Being close to the city centre was a plus, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. The interior was in poor shape, with some broken furniture and mould causing ceiling plaster and floor tiles to come away in places. We didn't get the separate beds we'd booked. The rude administrator refused to set them up despite having already been paid, and yelled at us in Italian. He only agreed to sort it out once Booking.com got involved. We lost two hours dealing with accommodation.
