Paradise Rooms

This was the most disappointing Airbnb stay I’ve had. The location was convenient and the room was a decent size, but things went wrong as soon as I arrived. I’d given an estimated check-in time of 3:00pm, the earliest allowed, but nobody answered my messages or met me then. There were no instructions for the entrance, doorbell, or floor, which was especially confusing in a residential building shared with local residents. When I finally reached the representative by phone, the language barrier made the conversation frustrating and unproductive. She arrived an hour late without apologizing, saying she was busy managing several properties. The room had no towels, air conditioning, trash bin, or proper lighting beyond one lamp. The curtains were too thin to block the morning light, and the room smelled as if it hadn’t been cleaned or prepared properly. I had to buy my own towel. After I briefly left without locking the door, I returned to find it locked and a towel on the bed. The representative had clearly been inside without my knowledge or permission, which made me feel unsafe and violated my privacy. Two friends came by during the day, both well before 10:00pm. The listing and house rules didn’t say visitors were forbidden. The representative saw my first friend arrive and greeted us without objection. When my second friend visited around 7:00pm, the landlord, who was a different person from the representative, repeatedly called me. I missed the first calls but returned them shortly after my friend had left. The landlord then tried to intimidate me, falsely claiming it was illegal in Italy to have friends over in an Airbnb and threatening to contact the authorities. Instead of discussing the matter in good faith or explaining any rules beforehand, the landlord sent Airbnb a misleading, one-sided report. My reservation was then cancelled unilaterally late that night, without a proper investigation. It was distressing and completely unwarranted. I chose not to leave, stayed until the next morning, and met my friend again at 8am. While I was getting ready for bed, the representative knocked after 10:00pm and tried to open my door without permission. She said she was bringing my laundry and repeated that she was uncomfortable with my having visitors, though this rule had never been clearly communicated. It was unsettling that she felt entitled to enter a guest’s room so late. Poor communication, inadequate facilities, unprofessional behavior, and repeated invasions of privacy made this stay awful. I strongly advise people to avoid this property.

It’s a lovely building and good value for the price. The host was bright, cheerful, and very kind. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the shared washroom was neat, nicely decorated, and well maintained. Great spot near the train station.
