The room had a stylish, luxurious look and modern comforts, including a little fridge, coffee maker, and safe. The bathroom was modern too, with a great shower that was big enough for two. The old building is lovely, with marble stairs, a huge lobby, a grand street entrance, and a lift to the apartments. Getting there was handy for the train station and day trips to Portofino, though we didn’t spot the apartment sign on the door right away. We got a code for arriving after hours. There was other guests’ luggage left in the corridor, which worried me since anyone could have taken it, though there are clearly cameras in reception and the hallway. They checked our passports the next morning. We stayed two nights. The station area felt a bit dodgy, so after dark we stuck to the main roads.

I booked online because I needed the location, after trying to arrange things directly about a week before arriving. I asked about the beds because I have a bad back and didn’t get an answer, so I called instead. The woman I spoke to was rude and nasty. Then she canceled my room. That was my first run-in with the host or manager, who I doubt is the owner. I asked several times for the owner's name, but she refused, and I was never told her own name either. The online listings and the place I actually stayed in felt completely at odds. These aren’t suites, despite the name, and reviews kept mentioning breakfast served in the room, but there was no breakfast at all. There were no hosts on site either. You enter with a buzzer code and nobody’s there. The room was okay, but not luxurious, and the Internet presence is very strange. She also didn’t take my passport as required by law, and I reported that as a serious violation in Italy. This woman is crazy. Don’t stay here expecting luxury or service.

The owner gave us tips for lovely places in Genova. We were so glad we found this hotel, the room was spacious, the rain shower was nice, and breakfast was huge. Great value, really good.
