Villa Bonera

Dinner here was one of the best meals we had during our three months in Italy, so don't skip it. Everyone we met was helpful and friendly. We were a family of four, with kids aged four and 10 months, and Hotel Villa Bonera gave us a spacious, beautiful family suite. We spent the afternoon relaxing in the garden, courtyard, and game hall. The hotel is in a lovely part of Genoa, about a 10-minute walk from the Genoa Nervi train station. We had a fantastic, authentic Italian stay.

We were exhausted by the time we found Hotel Bonera late that evening, and the place looked incredibly beautiful, if a little tired. The next morning brought the best breakfast of our whole trip. Sounds like it may still be just as good! This was back in 2018, after flying from NZ to Italy for the Eroica cycle ride in Tuscany. We landed in Milan and drove off in a rental car. About an hour later we got a speeding ticket. Two years after that, we had it translated and learned we'd apparently been driving too slowly. Would've been nice to know at the time, since we kept slowing down even more.

The view from the room is stunning, and the location is wonderful. There's parking, too. The building and furnishings are showing their age, from the floors, doors, walls, and windows to the furniture. The train is pretty loud at night and early in the morning, and there's no AC. Still, I'd probably come back for that view and location.

The room had a nice color scheme and feel to it, and it was clean. Breakfast had lots to choose from, and the cakes are a must try, they weren't overly sweet, just right. I was there for three days and two nights, and had dinner there too. It was good, and I'd recommend eating at the hotel instead of going to a restaurant outside. I'd definitely stay again :))
