Gerenzano Apartments

The apartment looked nice, which made the stay disappointing. Our night there was very cold, and even the suggested blanket didn’t help. Turning up the heating made no difference. Noise was another problem, and the bed was so uncomfortable that we ended up with terrible back pain. One star is the lowest rating I can give.

The area is lovely, with well-kept villas around it, and most things are within 700-800 meters: Lidl, a shopping center, McDonald's, toy shops, tobacconists, and fast food. The residence has 16 apartments across four floors, each with a large balcony running along the back. There’s an underground garage with 16 spaces, one per apartment, and free Wi-Fi in every room, though the signal was very weak and sometimes almost absent. There are no outlets beside the beds. Getting upstairs means using an uncovered outdoor iron staircase, since the central elevator wasn’t working during my three-night stay. I didn’t see anyone attend to that. Staff weren’t often around, but a phone call was enough to get things handled quickly. The furnishings felt dated and without much style. It has potential and isn’t a bad place, but it felt abandoned. I’m giving it three stars because several small details made a difference in my experience. We called the owner 20 minutes before arrival as requested, then waited in the rain for about half an hour. The rooms weren’t ready, and one double bed had mattresses at different heights. Even with the elevator out and staff present, nobody helped us carry our suitcases to the third floor. If a service included in the price isn’t available, the property should make up for it without putting guests out, or at least not charge the full amount for that service.

The covered parking was especially convenient for my car, and it had security cameras. I was in town for work and was warmly welcomed when I arrived in the morning. They let me leave my luggage before check-in. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and nicely heated, and I found the well-equipped kitchenette useful. I’d recommend Gerenzano Apartments for either a short or longer stay. I expect it’ll become a regular stop on my business trips.

I stayed one night with my daughter at the end of September. The place was clean, and the terrace was lovely. I also liked the rooms, especially the glass windows that let in so much light. I’d definitely come back next time I visit Milan, and recommend it.
