The night sky is so full of stars it almost looks unreal, and I’ve seen one of my most beautiful sunsets here. This is my third visit to Casale dei Mattonari, a fabulous place and a great base for exploring Umbria. The rooms have the necessary amenities and are very clean. Guests have their own lovely pool, which always feels relaxing. Alessio, Luciano, Sara, and little Enea are what make it special. They’re kind and helpful, and make you feel at home without ever being intrusive. And the restaurant is hard to resist, especially if you’re trying to diet! Umbria feels authentic, and this place reflects it so well.

The host is friendly, helpful, calm, confident, accommodating, and proactive. The food is so authentically Italian, with a mainly vegetarian menu, though meat lovers shouldn’t miss the chef’s specialties. The ingredients are always chosen with quality in mind. It’s also a great base for seeing Umbria, from the well-known sights to less touristy places. You really can’t go wrong here. It should be your first, next, and last stop in Umbria!

The hosts are warm, friendly, and ready to accommodate what you need. The views of the mountains are beautiful, and the place is peaceful and serene. It’s also well located for visiting nearby towns, with a pool for relaxing during the day. For good quality local Umbrian food, have dinner at the restaurant, especially around sunset. I recommend the Tagliata di vitello, steak tartar, and Arrosticini di pecora, or the pizza baked in the original oven from the family’s ancestors.

A peaceful country setting, yet close to lots of amenities and wineries. We enjoyed the pool and the restaurant’s pizza, and there’s a play area that makes it good for families. Alesio was very kind and communication was easy. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a handy fridge, and there was a nice outdoor sitting area.
