Hotel Palladio

The breakfast was the best part of my stay. Each morning I picked from a good menu of freshly prepared options the day before, and everything was complimentary. I had an omelette, pancake, capocollo, and yogurt, all delicious. The breakfast room also had nice water views. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the rates were very reasonable for the value. Hotel Palladio is small and not especially fancy, but it's a high quality gem with pleasant old-style decor. My room was fairly spacious and had its own charm, lots of chairs, two complimentary waters, and a balcony overlooking the street. The hotel is near the beach and across the street from the bus station for Taormina. I highly recommend staying here.

We booked the family suite for extra space, but the twin bed mattresses were awful and we couldn't sleep. The place was noisy at night and not very clean. The coffee maker in our room was so filthy we couldn't use it, and the staff weren't friendly. Early in the morning, we woke to someone smoking in the hotel. We left two nights early and booked somewhere else, which was fabulous and half the price. They wouldn't give us a refund for one night. We've travelled to many cities in Italy and Sicily, and this stay was a nightmare.

Breakfast was good, and the dining area had a gorgeous view. It's still a decent lower cost option for staying near Taormina if the issues I had don't bother you. We'd seen the positive reviews and booked, but I wish we'd stayed elsewhere. The city view room got so warm that we had to sleep with the door open, even with AC, and the traffic was really loud. The bed wasn't comfortable either, so neither of us slept well. I can see an ocean view room being more pleasant.

I've stayed here for three years and plan to keep coming back. The staff are courteous and helpful, and the hotel is eco friendly. You choose your breakfast from a wide selection, and they cater for dairy free and gluten free food as well as cappuccino. The rooms are spacious and clean, and most have beautiful sea views.
