Hotel La Riva

The location was convenient, close to what you might need, but still quiet and peaceful. Everything was fresh, clean, and well maintained, and the staff were kind, helpful, and always ready to assist with a smile. We had a wonderful stay from beginning to end. All praise to the team. I’d gladly return and recommend it.

The rooms look a little dated, but they were generally clean, cleaned daily, and the towels were changed. The hotel itself was quite clean too. Breakfast was the one really bad part: very limited, with a few kinds of cheap cold cuts, cheese, vegetables that were sometimes not even washed, a couple of sweet items, and machine coffee that tasted awful.

The only upside was being close to the sea. Otherwise, the hotel was bad, and I’d avoid it. The room looked ugly, like it was still 1990, and the air conditioner looked and worked as though it were 30 years old. It took 12 hours to cool the room. Breakfast was included, but the first morning the quality and selection were basically the cheapest salami and ham, as if to say, “Eat this and go away.” A staff member picked rotten fruit out of the bowl in front of us. We just had coffee and went elsewhere for breakfast. On the second and third days there was no breakfast at all, and no explanation; the doors were simply closed. The hotel staff seemed annoyed that we were there. Avoid it, 0/5.

Hotel la Riva is in an excellent location, and I was lucky to get a balcony and sea view. I enjoyed the quirky decor. The reception staff were kind and helpful, and the place was clean and well kept, with fresh bedding. I’d seen poor reviews from a few years ago and was apprehensive about my three-night stay, but there was no need to worry. I’d like to see a more substantial breakfast, perhaps with cheese and ham.
