My sister tried the dress-up experience and loved it. The Sannazzaros also made a real effort to help us get around since we had no car. Such a memorable visit, with a wonderful family hosting us in a castle that's been in the same family for nearly 900 years. Fantastic place and service. We'll definitely be back.

Breakfast was the icing on the cake, with amazing homemade bread and cakes. The host was warm, friendly, discreet, and impeccable. Set right in the enchanting Monferrato region, the castle has an old-world charm that suits its aristocratic feel. A dream!

The next morning, we took the castle tour, which was one of the highlights of our two-week trip. Learning the family's history and seeing the rest of the castle was fascinating. Giuseppe greeted us on a dark, stormy September night, and our rooms stayed warm, dry, and quiet through the weather. Breakfast was included and had a great spread, including homemade baked goods. Giuseppe was a great host and went out of his way for us.

The homemade breakfast was complete, and the rooms and apartments were comfortable, tastefully decorated, and well heated during the cold winter. The bathrooms were impeccable too. Count Sanazzaro warmly welcomed us with an easygoing manner, shared his family's story within Italy's complicated, rich history, and showed us rooms, documents, paintings, artefacts, and letters in the 900-year-old family castle. There are typical, memorable restaurants nearby, and the surrounding hills are good for local excursions. You can also take longer trips to Milano & La Scala, Como lake, Torino, or Genova. It works for a romantic couple or a family, for a short stay or a longer one. It felt like a place to return to without taking on the burden of maintaining it. Thanks to the Countess and Count for having us!

Breakfast came with fresh pastries, and the hosts were fascinating. The castle is extraordinary, full of history, character, and all sorts of unique little quirks and delights. One of the best places I've stayed. Casale Monferrato has an amazing restaurant, Accademia.
