Agriturismo San Leonardello

Breakfast in the sun, looking out over the shore, was a real highlight, and the pool was still open in October. It was a lovely spot on a picturesque citrus farm, with many appealing destinations easy to reach by car. Our farmhouse room was solid, with a great view of the mountains, including Etna, and the sea. A few things could be improved: the rooms could use better equipment and soundproofing, and parts of the beautiful grounds seemed a little neglected. The pool was dirty when we arrived, but they cleaned it the next day. Still, we'd recommend staying here.

The cooking class was a treat: we made seven dishes, from stuffed fried dough and caponata to several pastas, meatballs in lemon leaves, rolled pork, and dessert. We ate it all for dinner with Etna wines and their homemade limoncello. The whole property is gorgeous, with orchards full of lemon, orange, kumquat, mulberry, plum, and other trees. The villa and rooms have a charming, historic feel, and the pool and hammocks are lovely places to unwind with views of the sea and Mt. Etna. Everyone was so kind, and the farm's dog happily kept us company all weekend. It was hard to leave this oasis. Agritourismo San Leonardello made all my agritourismo dreams come true.

Just be aware that you'll need a car here. San Leonardello and the surrounding area aren't accessible without one, so it's not a good fit for a party traveling without a car. With that covered, I can wholeheartedly recommend it. The place is quiet and lush, with birds, lizards, plants and fruit trees, plus the sea on one side and Etna on the other. The rooms are simple but very nice, with a comfortable bed, clean bathroom, soap and shampoo, a small fridge, TV, and clean towels. The pool was lovely. The staff were kind and happy to help, including with dietary needs at breakfast and dinner. Dinner needs to be booked, but it's quick and affordable for four courses with wine and limoncello. And the little resident dog was especially sweet and affectionate.

A friendly little dog kept our son entertained, and the pool was warm and clean. Breakfast was okay, and the rooms were certainly rustic. But on the night we stayed, extremely loud music went on until 4am and made it impossible to sleep. Maybe that was a one-off, since other reviewers describe a peaceful place, but we wouldn't stay again.
