Dama Sicilian Luxury Home & SPA

The person we dealt with did respond after we raised our concerns. Later, he brought hand and tea towels and a bottle opener, and apologized by email. I appreciated that and felt it deserved the two stars. The missing dishwasher and washing machine were manageable, even though their absence hadn't been mentioned. But no part of the listing warned us that the house was right beside a noisy, dirty road, which really should have been made clear. The photos make the place look bright and airy, but downstairs there aren't any windows. Only the upstairs bedrooms get natural light. Below, it all comes from lamps, including a glaring work light by the stairs meant to imitate daylight. The property is described as a luxury spa, which doesn't match what we found. The road is busy and polluted, noise came straight into the house, and we couldn't hear the television. There seemed to be no insulation, and soot got inside. Our towels turned black when we wiped our feet. I'm not exaggerating. Inside, the cheap furnishings and materials showed in the details: screws poking through the table, a leaking sink, loose door handles, and uncomfortable mattresses. Basic items were missing too, including tea towels, dishcloths, a bottle opener, dishwasher, and kettle. The listing said there was a sauna, but there wasn't one. Maybe that applies to the three-room apartment, but the description doesn't make that clear. The price is way out of proportion to what you get. I've had a more luxurious, relaxing stay at a campsite, so don't trust the photos or description.
