Borgo Valle Rita - Country Resort

The room is spacious and the bathroom is acceptable, but getting into the room with a wheelchair wasn’t possible. There’s a large threshold, the approach goes over grass, and the doorway is too narrow. There is another door at the back, but it can’t be opened from outside. It’s a lovely place, but absolutely inaccessible, which was very disappointing.

The homemade food was fantastic, and the hosts made us feel very welcome. We loved the rustic farmhouse character and the breathtaking views. It felt like a little taste of la dolce vita in the Italian countryside. A wonderfully relaxing stay, 10/10, I’d recommend it.

We had a relaxed few nights here with our children, who are 8 and 11. The kids, and the adults, spent ages enjoying the pool, and the bar service brought drinks right to the loungers. Breakfast was unbelievably good, and dinner was excellent without being expensive. The staff were friendly and professional, and helped arrange a lovely evening in Matera for us. We really hope to return.

The grounds were lush and peaceful, almost like a little village surrounded by nature. Our room was large and chilly at first, but warmed up quickly once we put the heating on. The bed was comfortable, though a little too firm for me, and the Wi-Fi gave us some trouble. Breakfast was the letdown: during our three days it was the same each morning, and we’d hoped for more variety and homemade items from a place that grows its own fruit and vegetables. Even so, we came away with a good impression of the hotel.
