Masseria Stella

The masseria itself is beautiful and sits right in the heart of Puglia, but the management made us feel unwelcome. A party there went on until 3:30 a.m. with disco music, so we couldn't sleep. Then at 8:00 a.m. the next morning, an excavator started working. Some way to relax...

The pool was a favorite, spacious and clean, with easy steps where you could sit in the water and soak up the sun. Our room was also lovely, newly done, spotless, and had a roomy modern shower. We had a fantastic weekend at Masseria Stella, surrounded by trees and swallowsong, with a real sense of peace. The owners were so kind and brought us cherries and wildflowers. We also loved their rosé enough to take a bottle home. A lovely, authentic place to unwind. We'd happily return.

The food was delicious and carefully made with quality ingredients, and there was a lovely pool to cool off in. Set in nature, Masseria Stella is a peaceful place to relax, with a handy base for exploring the area's many attractions. The family who runs it looks after everything personally, and the hosts I met were very welcoming and kind. The staff were always around, adding to the warm, homely feel. Our room was modern, clean, tidy, and thoughtfully furnished. We stayed on the 14th and 15th and had a wonderful time. They make excellent wine too. Comfortable, peaceful, full of good food and sincere hospitality. I'd definitely come back.

The pool was the standout, clean and really well cared for. We stayed in the La Torre apartment, which was beautifully furnished, very comfortable, and spotless, and breakfast was excellent. The host was very kind and helpful. A great base for visiting Matera, Alberobello, and other places nearby.
