VRclub Villa Ridente

We just got back from VR club, a top spot if you want peace and quiet. Our apartment was on the highest level of this multi-level hillside resort, so the view of the sea was magnificent. It's simply equipped, with air conditioning, which really matters on hot summer days there. The beach is made of stones and never felt crowded or unpleasant. Each reservation gets an umbrella number from reception. Bring water shoes to make walking on the stones easier. There's also a resort shuttle between the beach and your level, running from 09:30 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 19:00. Having a car is a better option if you want to visit different places around the area. The team was the friendliest I've ever come across. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon in a group of 10, after hiring a bus from Catania airport. We asked reception if there was somewhere we could eat. They said it was too late for the beach restaurant, but another restaurant would open at 20:00. They also offered to ask the beach restaurant to send food to our apartment, and it delivered pizza for 10 plus a lot of other things at no charge. We don't see that sort of thing in western Europe. The next day, reception took us by shuttle to the nearby village for groceries, also free. We used their shuttle four times to go to San Giorgio and they never asked for an extra cent. Another time I bought three ice creams at the beach bar, forgot one, and asked for another. They gave it to me for free too. The beach restaurant looks out over the sea, and you can get a cheap panini, beer, or cola there. The restaurant on the first level makes delicious pizza. We ordered eight pizzas, two portions of French fries, two bottles of water, and a bottle of cola for €120, or €12 per person. We ate five pizzas and took the rest with us. There's also a bar where you can sit and order whatever you like. The nearby village is small, but its Conad mini market has almost everything you need. Across from it, there's a bakery with delicious Italian bread and ready-made meals, which was perfect. We also asked the reception team to take us to a fish restaurant in the village. They brought us to one serving grilled fish that was out of this world, with locally made wine and beer. For a table of 10, with three grilled fish dishes, French fries, four extra dishes, water, wine, and cola, I paid €17 per person. In Germany, I would certainly pay double for the same. For what we paid, we're very happy with what we got. Thanks to the team for such kind and generous hospitality. I highly recommend this place.
