Hotel Miramare

The hotel was very accessible, even for our grandmother in her wheelchair, and the beach was only a 10 minute walk away, even with the chair. Staff were always extremely friendly and helpful. Our rooms were cleaned every day and were always tidy, and we were very pleased with breakfast. We had a wonderful time at Hotel Miramare, and I’d recommend it to anyone.

The receptionist man and young woman were helpful and willing to sort out a few things for me. Breakfast communication was a little hard because the woman there didn’t speak English and I only knew a few Italian words, but we managed. I stayed in a renovated room that was very comfortable, and it was the first place on my trip with proper heating. The hotel is nice and close to the beach, about a 10 minute walk. Restaurants are farther away, and taking a car might be better because the sidewalk ends after a few hundred meters. The rooms are badly soundproofed, though. I woke up because my neighbor was snoring.

After spending a week at this hotel, I want future guests to have the information they need. I’ve read other reviews and can confirm my impression that the managers discriminate against people who aren’t from Italy. The crisis affecting everyone is affecting the management here too. The managers are a family, a mother, daughter and son, who also work reception, serve food and clean rooms. They seem to do everything to save money, but when the hotel is full there aren’t enough staff to meet its needs. From their responses to guest reviews, complaints seem to be treated as offensive or unfriendly, with no real regret or promise to fix the problems. I’d suggest reading as many reviews as possible before deciding. Room cleanliness was adequate, and that’s why I gave two stars. Breakfast was invariably boiled eggs; Emmental, salami and ham that ran out first; natural yogurt that also ran out first, plus flavored yogurt; supermarket pastries; and two types of sweetened natural juice from cartons. The room refrigerators, where there is one, are just for show. You can’t put a cold beer in one because they have a bar and expect you to buy drinks there. It isn’t written down, but management tells you this verbally. 😂

I’ve traveled a lot, but I’ve never had an experience like this. At La Miramare, the family running the hotel, a mother, daughter and son, handled reception, cleaning, continental breakfast and everything else. The chores, complaints and management overwhelmed them, as did hotel maintenance. There was a lack of respect and effectiveness. The most insolent woman in the family put her hands on her hips like she was at the market. They communicated in stages, so if one group was still eating, they apologized for shortages even though we had bought different things for different groups. Some people only wanted a coffee. Everyone had paid for services and should be treated with respect. Nobody was disrespectful, they were only asking for what they had paid for. The young man, the son, was the only one I think had a real chance of representing the hotel. He had good sense and apologized for all of his mother’s outbursts.
