Hotel Marana

We liked the calm setting, the nearby beach with reserved loungers for hotel guests, and the evening music. The rooms were large, clean, and well equipped, there’s a small pool for children, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a decent choice. The price for what you get didn’t feel right. We paid EUR 220 a night for the first two days, which seemed fair for September, then EUR 350 a night from day three. That felt overpriced. We left with a bitter feeling, especially after seeing Italian guests in similar rooms paying less while many rooms were empty. It didn’t seem honest to charge us more.

The hotel is quiet and close to a beach that’s okay, though the water is so shallow it’s really only comfortable for children. It isn’t the luxury place it claims to be. The rooms are basic, with no complimentary water even when you arrive and no coffee or tea setup. At breakfast, the machine coffee was terrible. There were no vegetables, and dinner wasn’t very good for EUR 35 either. Service was extremely poor and unfriendly. The receptionists told me over two days that their boss, who I assume was the brunette woman, was directing things. No one told me her name. One maid came into my room without knocking. Then at 11:00, after I’d asked to check out at 12:00, a receptionist came to get me out. Later I saw other people checking out easily at 11:50 while I sat in the lobby. The man who checked me in was the only friendly person, though I unfortunately don’t know his name. It felt like the hotel didn’t care about guests and was just punishing them. I have no wish to return. It’s a shame this was my first impression of Sardinia.

The staff were so accommodating, and I especially want to thank Alfredo and everyone at the restaurant, including Selma and the other girls. They were lovely and helped me get specially made food for my baby. We had a great stay, with a beautiful pool and quick access to the beach. Thank you!

Getting there was easy: take bus 2 or 10 from the airport to the train station, then the train to Golfo Aranci and get off at Marinella station. It’s only about a three-minute walk from there. After that, just enjoy this beautiful hotel. It felt like staying at a family home. Everyone, from reception onward, was wonderful, kind, and friendly. Thanks so much to Barbara, Lucca, Simone, and Marco for the good times, the amazing breakfast, and dinner with warm smiles and laughs. The room and bed were comfortable and quiet. The pool is a nice spot to relax, just a two-minute walk from the hotel. About ten minutes away on foot there’s a nice place for ice cream, beer, and snacks, plus water activities like snorkeling. Such a lovely place with lovely people. I love you guys!
