Antica Locanda SanPietro

Really loved it.

The view of the mountains from the windows was stunning, and the hotel sits in a lovely historic building right in the middle of a small village. Our room was roomy, comfortable, classically furnished, and had modern amenities. I only tried the à la carte breakfast, though the hotel also has a restaurant. The staff were friendly and professional, and ready to help with what we needed. I highly recommend the Antica Locanda San Pietro for a stay in such a lovely setting.

We came for a weekend exploring the Langhe wineries and villages, and liked the location, facilities, breakfast, and spa. But the dust in our room was a real letdown. On our first evening back from dinner, our allergies made it obvious how much had collected on the lamps, bedside tables, reception phone, and even under the bed. With hygiene standards as they are, I was very dissatisfied. Cleanliness should come first, always.

The dinner and breakfast were the weak points for me, so I can't give this five stars. The food could be better in quality, service, and choice, and dinner was far too expensive, especially compared with the good restaurants all around Roero and Langhe. You can eat well everywhere there, but that wasn't my experience at the Locanda. I also think place mats and silver cutlery would suit the refined feel they seem to be going for. The property itself is lovely and very well cared for. Rooms are large, with private outdoor areas like terraces or patios, big modern bathrooms, and a beautiful view over Roero. The garden has lots of little spots for reading, enjoying the view, or chatting, and the pool and wellness area were relaxing.
